Softlightes - Say No to Being Cool Say Yes to Being Happy (2007)

If you listen to nothing else that I've posted, listen to "The Microwave Song" on this album from this really overlooked electro-indie-pop band. Say No to Being Cool Say Yes to Being Happy starts out pretty mellow but then blasts into a really upbeat danceable track called "The Robots in My Room Were Playing Arena Rock" (come on, you HAVE to want this now), and it only gets better from there

Summer is here bitches, and you're probably going to be spinning this a lot for the next few months (I know I am)

East River Pipe - What Are You On? (2006)

Chilled out and melancholic twee album, some of the songs remind me of Eels, especially the vocals

ground control to major tom

Hey all, just a quick little shoutout to anyone who browses the blog and also uses last.fm, I made a last.fm group a few days ago for WTT, both to provide maybe a little discussion and also because I like to have an idea of not only how many people visit the blog but how many actually listen to the stuff they download, so if you wanna help me out and join that would be appreciated, thanks peeps

MC Lars - This Gigantic Robot Kills (2009)

New album from everyone's favorite post-punk laptop rapper, this time he's tackling topics like Brooklyn hipsters, Guitar Hero, his drummer's messy house, and how much the American system of measurement sucks (fight the power, motherfuckers)

The Matches - E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals (2003)

INCLUDES EXTRA TRACKS AND ORIGINAL VERSIONS OF THE OTHERS

Oakland-based pop-punk band, they self-released this album a few years ago and got tons of support and a huge fanbase by just doing a shitload of touring without the help of a label, which as far as I'm concerned makes them pretty goddamn cool even without the awesome music, of course nowadays they're playing Warped Tour and shit like that but I try not to hold it against them since their music is still really good, anyways check this out and I might post their other albums if people seem to enjoy this one

Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her - Red Talk (2002)

Japanese alternative rock with female vocals, kinda like if Number Girl were a bit more feminine or whatever, I'll probably be posting more of this band because they're awesome and they make me happy

Abandoned Pools - Armed to the Teeth (2005)

Tommy Walker, aka Abandoned Pools, makes punk-influenced alternative rock, but this isn't your average look-at-me-I-play-guitar alt rock, I mean, the dude teaches music theory classes and shit like that

Vince Guaraldi Trio - A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

I've been having a really weird few days recently, and this album has helped to sort me out, take it from me, it definitely doesn't have to be Christmas to enjoy the hell out of this album, and if you're ever in a bad mood it might just brighten your day, so it's not a bad thing to have banging around somewhere

Hand Me That Piano - Grandson (2007), Shit Luck (2007), Happiness is Ugly (2008)

A very talented independent artist who's totally unknown (want some indie cred, here you go), at his best he invokes memories of Elliott Smith, and that's never a bad thing, but he also incorporates a lot of other elements into his music. I highly encourage you if you enjoy these albums to go buy them on his myspace, they won't put much of a dent in your wallet and they're totally worth it

Another excellent collaboration between Parish and Harvey, with elements of PJ's entire career, and both of these artists in top form, this is one of the strongest releases of the year so far
